Happy New Year!!

Ink Tank would like to thank all the people we worked with in 2011. It was a great year. We made over 70,000 shirts. Our poster prints more than doubled and we added a few new webstores and several new bands to our client list. We expect 2012 to be even better and anticipate the release of Cursive's "I am Gemini" on Feb 21st. Lots of cool new stuff for that. Stay Tuned.

Starting off, new staff and retail hoodies for Krug Park, a new bar in Benson specializing in beer, bloody marys and craft cocktails. 59 beers on tap, over 200 bottles and cans and an extremely knowledgeable staff. Go say hi. Open 7 days a week!

New shirts and sweatshirts for Athen's Of Montreal. Their new record "Paralytic Stalks" comes out (drops) Feb 7th on Polyvinyl Records.

Hi there! Well, its been a little over a month, so here's a bunch of new stuff.

Made some shirts and tote bags for our friends at Octopuses Garden Art Alliance.
"The Octopuses Garden Art Alliance is an Omaha 501(c)(3) non-profit organization dedicated to strengthening community interaction through visual, literary and performance arts. We rely on our passionate members volunteering their talents and creative energy to advocate for, inspire and educate our community. We collaborate with other non-profits, schools, neighborhood associations and local businesses throughout Omaha in hosting events to facilitate positive growth for anyone interested in learning an art form, meeting new people and expressing themselves.

Signal Path is a new band we're working with. New koozies, shirts and hats.

Hear Nebraska is a nonprofit cultural organization that cultivates the state's vibrant, fertile music and arts community. By providing resources and a voice for bands, artists and members of Nebraska’s creative class — as well as the businesses that support them — Hear Nebraska strives to make the state a globally recognized cultural destination.

We printed these posters for their comp CD release this Saturday at The Sydney. Featuring Big Harp, Dim Light, Thunder Power, Conduits, Digital Leather, Domestica, The Betties, The Mezcal Brothers, Con Dios, The Wagon Blasters, So-So Sailors, and Kill County. Design by the enegmatic Eric Nyffeler of Doe Eyed Design.

We also made Gus & Call posters for their residency this December at Slowdown. Designed by Cody Peterson of Secret Penguin.

New hoodies for The Waiting Room and 1% Productions staff. They have done a lot for Omaha's music scene and deserve our full fledged support. Go see a rock show!!

Reprinted these Saddle Creek shirts. I want to say these came out of a design contest the label held around 2004. Check out their sweet new website.

And lastly, the elusive "Drunk Octopus on a Unicycle" Good Life shirt. This is what long drives on tour produce.....ridiculous t-shirt ideas. We approve of such ridiculousness.

The Bottle Rockets formed in St Louis in 1992. They were considered to be the leaders of the '90s alt-country/roots rock revival along with peers Uncle Tupelo. We reprinted 3 old designs for them.

The Vintage Lux is an antique and vintage online store that donates 100% of the proceeds to the Henry County Humane Society of Geneseo, Illinois. We made these tote bage for them.

Wakey! Wakey! are a band from New York City on Family Records. They are doing a European tour this fall. We printed these posters for them. Designed by our new friend Jose Prieto.

The Rural Alberta Advantage are playing Toronto again this November and we made another variation of the Canada poster. Designed by Jadon Ulrich.

Maria Taylor just released her new record "Overlook" last month and starts her tour October 12th in Baton Rouge, LA. We made these new shirts for her.

Painted Palms are a band from San Francisco. They have a new EP out called "Canopy" and are currently on tour.

Post Punk Kitchen is a vegan cooking show and blog started in Brooklyn in 2003. We've made some shirts and aprons for them a few times. Give them some love and buy some stuff.

New shirt for Undertow Music. We print a lot of stuff for them including David Bazan, Rocky Votolato, Centromatic and Pedro the Lion.

Telekinesis is a band from Seattle, WA signed to the legendary Merge Records. We are happy to be adding them to our webstores soon.

The Felice Brothers are at it again. Back on the road supporting their new record "Celebration, Florida". They're at the Grog Shop in Cleveland tonight and will be on tour for the rest of the year. New shirts and hoodies designed by Joey Lynch.

Though technically not a doctor, Mike Mogis is an engineer, producer and member of Bright Eyes and Monsters of Folk. He has produced records by The Faint, Rilo Kiley, Cursive, Julian Casablancas, She and Him, Bright Eyes and Man Man. He is the Dr. Dre of Omaha.

One more poster for Polyvinyl Records. Their Pygmalion Music Festival showcase happens Sept 24th in Campaign, ILL. Joan of Arc, Braid, Deerhoof, Japandroids, Xiu Xiu and more. Designed by Camm Rowland. 4 colors on 100lb white paper.

Farnam Festival was last Saturday. Iwen Exposures, Black Squirrel Tattoo, Oxide Design and Sullivans bar were among the sponsors. Featured local bands Kyle Harvey, Blue Bird, Little Brazil and The So-So Sailors.

And, Love Drunk released the video they shot here with Tim Kasher. He has a new EP out called Bigamy and is playing at the Waiting Room Sat, Sept 10th. We made posters for the show.

Speed Nebraska! released its third compilation 10" last weekend after the 3rd annual Soapbox Riot. Includes songs from Domestica, Ideal Cleaners, Filter Kings, Wagon Blasters, The Third Men, The Really Rottens and Students of Crime.

Lincoln's handsomest metal band Masses left last Thursday for their first tour. They took these sharp new shirts with them. Designed by We Buy Your Kids and Harry Diaz respectively.

The Omaha Scooter Club made another round of shirts promoting single car/single scooter families.

The Hold Steady is playing in Slowdown's parking lot August 26th with Conduits, The Donkeys and Mister Heavenly. Its free. Hell yeah.

The Maha Music Festival in a few weeks. The made some new women's and men's tees. More Maha stuff to come. Poster and shirts. Stay tuned.

We made these stellar shirts for Vino Rosso. He enjoys the finer things in life. GFY!! We never said this blog was family-friendly.

We made some signage for the front of our building to help people find us better. Its nothing fancy, but it was cheap and done in an afternoon.

Saddle Creek's retail outlet has its grand opening this Saturday. Live performances by Orenda Fink and The Mynabirds and 3 DJ sets!! Starts at noon.

Bought some new toys on Craigslist: a 24x28" light table and a 30x30" paper cutter. You're not that excited...but I AM!!!!

McCarthy Trenching is gearing up to release another record. This time on hometown label, Slumberparty. We "re-appropriated" some old LP covers for this new one. Titled "Fresh Blood", it should be out by Sept.

Aaaand, LeAnn designed these astronaut Ink Tank shirts. They glow in the dark!! How could you not want your shirt to glow in the dark? Space printin'. Yeah.

Our friends over at Liquid Courage made these cool new v-neck tees. The "Tiger-Eagle" (aka "Tigeagle" or "Eagleger") was drawn by Devin Ferguson. LC is located on 75th St off of Pacific and Sailors Grave on Maple in Benson.

Rise from Ruin is a local rock band and we made these shirts for them. 3 colors on AA charcoal grey.

Centromatic's tour started last night in Nashville, TN. We made these 2 new shirts based on Will's paintings. See them being painted here.

Barley's Bar and Grill ordered these shirts for the CWS. Located in the Tip Top building.

Who doesn't love a hot dog? Hot Dog Revolution is a local hot dog cart and they made these shirts. Designed by Christopher Halbkat of the Bemis Press.

Worker's Takeout is a another local restaurant taking part in the College World Series. Cuban Pork sandwiches, Italian Beef and Coney Island Dogs. Permanently located in the Scooters in the old First National Building downtown. Read the rave reviews here.

Medical Solutions did another shirt for their employees to let people know they're famous. Rated one of the best places to work in Omaha!

Slowdown is gearing up for the College World Series, starting next week. They made baseball jerseys for their staff and beer shirts for their customers. They are located across the street from the new stadium. The beers are cold and the staff is friendly.

We've been working with Phantogram for a few years now. They reprinted their hits "Space Drummer" and "Rejoice". They are playing Coachella next Friday.

Tallest Man on Earth did some new totebags for their upcoming tour following their Coachella performance next weekend.

TV on the Radio and Conduits

Bright Eyes released "The People's Key" a few weeks ago and are heading out for some serious touring this year. The US tour starts Wednesday in Miami. We made 4 new shirts, 2 hoodies, a tote bag, and some koozies and hats to start them off. All of these things are tour exclusive, so if you want something, you'll have to go see them play. There will be lots of chances. Watch them on Letterman here.

We bought this poster press last week. It needs a little WD40 and some love, but we're gonna put it to good use. Soon.

Jake Ellenberger is an Omaha MMA fighter. He fought last weekend in Las Vegas with a split-decision victory over Carlos Eduardo Rocha. His record is 24-5 MMA, 3-1 UFC.

We're happy to be printing some shirts for up-and-coming local band, Bright Eyes. With a little luck and a lot of hard work, I think these kids might just go places. Their new record comes out Feb 15th. These shirts will be for the album bundles. Tour starts Feb 8th in Glasgow, Scotland.

Cursive played another "Domestica" anniversary show at the Waiting Room last Tuesday. We made another run of posters to commemorate that show. 59 sold in Chicago, 37 sold in Omaha.

Aaaaand, we printed some posters for the Telekinesis show at Slowdown, March 1st. Also on the bill are The Love Language and Little Brazil. You know the drill....go to the show, buy a poster, drink beers, tip bartenders.

Slowdown Virginia, Cursive and Don Gerard

Slowdown Virginia is reuniting tonight at Slowdown (the club was named after the band) for the first time in over 15 years. The band consisted of members of Cursive and Criteria. Also on the bill tonight is another 90's Omaha band Polecat, featuring Ted Stevens of Cursive and Lullaby for the Working Class. We made 2 new Slowdown shirts for the show.

Cursive is off to Chicago for New Years Eve to celebrate the 10 year anniversary of Domestica. They will play it in its entirety, followed by a set of songs from their other records. Seems like just yesterday Ted and Tim were writing guitar parts for that record in our living room. We made 2 new shirts and a poster to commemorate the show.

We also made some shirts for Champaign, Ill mayoral candidate Don Gerard. Any candidate that puts a 7" record on their shirt has my vote.

And finally, this is the last blog post of the year. We are taking next week off to decompress and reflect on all the things we've done this year. We made almost 44,000 prints this year using roughly 36 gallons of ink....give or take. Hoping 2011 will be a good year for us and we will meet some new bands to work with. Thanks to everyone who did business with us or read our blog. We hope its entertaining if nothing else.

Hola!! Been a busy week. Didn't take as many pictures as I should have, but hey....I gots work to do people!! Also, I dropped my camera and the display is broken. New camera fund 2011??

And finally, I helped make a print for my friend Kenny Adkins. He's a phenomenal artist and will be showing this print in his upcoming show at the Bemis Underground this January. Chicago Pride, Berg Sans Nipple and Adam Stephens

Whats that? How do you make a 9 color poster with only 4 colors, you say? Well...I'll tell ya. 4 color process, thats how!! We made these Chicago Pride posters for the Howard Brown Health Center. After extensive color testing and a few phone calls, we dove in head first. I think they look real nice. Designed by Camm Rowland.

Made some tote bags for Team Love's Berg Sans Nipple. They are playing All Tomorrow's Parties in England the first week of December.

And finally, Adam Haworth Stephens and his band were involved in an accident on the way back home post-tour. If anyone is feeling extra generous this Thanksgiving, they could use the help. The Duke Spirit reprinted their last poster with some slight changes. This time with gold ink! Can't argue with that.

I printed this Bright Eyes shirt for probably the 100th time since 2001. Got me thinkin...how many of these have been made? With a little investigation, my estimates are between 20,000 and 30,000! Holy F!

Finally, I stumbled across some tattoos on the interweb of shirts I printed this week. Crazy kids!

American Football, Felix the Cat and some newly framed posters

American Football was an indie rock band from Urbana, Illinois, active from 1997 to 2000. It featured members of Capn Jazz and Joan of Arc, who surprisingly just played at Slowdown last weekend. They were short lived, but judging by the times we've printed this hoodie, they are not forgotten. You can buy one of these at Polyvinyl Records webstore.

Made some posters for Slowdown's Thanksgiving weekend blowout! Little Brazil and Bear Country are headlining each night respectively. Sort of a rock night v. soft rock night kinda thing. Nov 26th and 27th. You should probably go. Had my weekend apprentice Van help me print em.

The second leg of Tim Kasher's tour starts Monday in Eugene, OR with Minus the Bear. We made some 7" covers and tour posters for him before he left. The posters will be available at his shows, but the 7"s are sold out already. Bummer.

Eric Nyffeler of Doe Eyed Design came up yesterday to help print his new Circa Survive poster for their show Sunday in Towson, MD. It has beheaded swans on it. Its awesome. You can buy one on his website.

Thats right......we printed shirts for Shakira. Sometimes strange things happen and we just roll with it.

"Waka Waka (This Time for Africa)", a collaboration between global superstar Shakira and critically acclaimed South African music group Freshlyground, was the Official Anthem of the 2010 World Cup in South Africa.

Pepper Rabbit is a new band we're working with. They have a record coming out this month. Some transparent over printin'.....dig it!

Did some new work shirts for the Grinn and Barrett crew. They look pretty sharp. Go buy one.

Mark Sultan (aka BBQ) is out on tour right now. Made these new teeth shirts for him.

And finally, we made some shirts for Omahan and UFC welterweight fighter, Jake Ellensberger. We hope to see more from Jake in the future and judging by his record (23-5), I assume we will.

Conor Oberst is recording a new Bright Eyes record right now slated for 2011 release. He is doing a quick 4 day tour with The Felice Brothers as his backing band, starting tomorrow. Did a new shirt and hoodie for those dates. Design by Kaite Murphy.

Tim Kasher's solo record "The Game of Monogamy" comes out October 5th. His tour starts tonight in Des Moines, IA. He stopped by today on his way out of town and picked up these gems. Designed by Grammy Award Winner and proud new father, Zack Nipper.

Adam Stephens new record "We Live On Cliffs" comes out tomorrow. Tour starts October 2nd with these two new shirts in tow.

Did a new shirt for Monarchs from Austin, TX. Hopefully we'll be seeing more from them in the future.

Omaha got a football team, sort of!!!! The Omaha Nighthawks played their first game last Friday night and apparently are pretty good. The fan club calls themselves the Zombies. We did some shirts for them to wear to the first game. Thats probably why they won! Go Zombies!!

Built to Spill is playing a free show outside of Slowdown on August 27th. The Rural Alberta Advantage and The Mynabirds are also playing. We printed these posters for it.

Fuck Up Test Print Show

Tomorrow night at Screen Ink in Lincoln, NE is the opening for the Fuck Up Test Print Show.

FUCK UP :: a test print exhibit
Test prints are by-products of the screen-printing process that contain a multitude of layers of color and shape from numerous different posters, resulting in (occasionally) beautiful, one-of-a-kind monoprints. Because the process is completely spontaneous and unplanned, imperfections and accidents are embraced rather than shunned. FUCK UP is an art show that illuminates this emerging art form with a collection of prints from numerous international artists, both celebrated and up-and-coming. Test prints are an intersection of art and design, individuality and mass production, inspiration and collection, planned and impromptu.

OPENING
Please join us at our First Friday opening reception for booze, classy hors d'oeuvres, shit-talking, and brown-nosing (not necessarily in that order). You'll meet some of the artists and can badmouth the ones who didn't show up. DJ set by Bad Spelr!! (Darren Keen from The Show Is The Rainbow)

Its been a busy 2 weeks.

Firstly....The Appleseed Cast are playing at the Waiting Room tonight and Doe Eyed Design made yet another incredible poster to promote the event. The band will have them for sale at the show or you can buy them from Eric as always on his website.

SXSW starts this week. We did a poster for Saddle Creek's showcase Thursday at Maggie Mae's. Designed by local badass Jadon Ulrich.
